On Wednesday 7th February, Year 4 will have a history day focussing on Ancient Egypt. Your children will need to come to school dressed in Ancient Egyptian costumes. Please don't spend lots of money or time on these costumes! Last year a lot of children made their costumes at home.
During the day, the children will be learning history study skills and taking part in a historical investigation. The children will then present their finds to the class.
Number Day is on Friday. The children will get many exciting lessons around numbers!
Today, year 4 mummified tomatoes. We did this to find out the best method of preservation for an Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh. We mummified 5 tomatoes in total: one with salt, one with sugar, one with oil, one with all the preservatives together, and we also mummified a tomato without any preservatives as a control.
Our next read together session will take place this Friday at 2:40pm - we would love to see as many adults as possible coming to read with us!
WORLD BOOK DAY
This year World Book Day is on Thursday 7th March. We will be focussing on one text as a whole school, with many different activities. Children will be encouraged to bring in their favourite book, so please start alking to them about books they love and which one they might like to bring in!
This term's Art to Start was Ancient Egyptian Cartouche. Team Cialis made cartouche out of clay engraving these with their own initials in hieroglyphs. The children then painted their cartouche carefully with golds, whites, reds, or green.
This week Year 4 are concentrating on their 4 times tables.
Please encourage your children to practise them as much as possible.

We really enjoyed exploring two characters from our new text in English today. As a class, we discussed the two major events in Edward’s life and came up with some adjectives. We then hot-seated each of the characters and explored their perspectives and how they might be feeling.
This week Year 4 are concentrating on their 9 times tables.
Please encourage your children to practise them as much as possible.

The children are also taking part in a Year 4 Viking Academy Trust-wide competition on TTRS called Top of the Rocks. Let's get RAPS to the top of the leader board!

Well done to everyone who made a flip book at home and brought them in to school. I was so impressed with the creativity of these simple animations. We had bouncy balls, waving men, even a Varjak Paw animation!
Every student that made a flip book to show has had it displayed and they received Super Star Learner Cards. I have given a grand total of 20 Superstar Learner Cards for these Flip Books. Well done!
Last week, we were lucky enough to see some Hindu religious artefacts. Saanujan, from Team Cialis, brought some religious objects in from home to show the class and to tell them more about Hinduism. It was great to hear his experiences and to see some real life Hindu objects rather than pictures.
Thanks to Saani and his family for letting us see these special objects.
This week Year 4 are concentrating on their 3 times tables.
Please encourage your children to practise them as much as possible.
