  • Weather forecast

    Published 31/01/20, by Isla Aitken

This week the children have really delved in to the science of weather prediction and forecasting. WE made rain gauges which are sitting outside our classroom collecting rain. Over the next couple of weeks we will be monitoring the amount of rain fall we have.

Then on Thursday we had great fun pretending to be weather presenters. We used the correct language to forecast what the weather would be like later afternoon.  If you fancy a laugh at home, ask us to step in for your usual weather forecaster to predict the weather for the weekend. We might even provide some handy advice on what to wear.

  • Making ten and a fair swap

    Published 29/01/20, by Isla Aitken

On Friday we started to understand how our binary number system is based on making ten. We used objects to make ten and count on and this helped us understand the value of the digits as tens and ones. Then we made groups of ten to swap fairly and subsequently moved on to working on partitioning numbers in our books!

    Published 23/01/20, by Isla Aitken

This term in P.E. we are doing gymnastics. So far we have had fun practising our balance and movements and we have even been creating short sequences of 3-4 moves and balances in groups or pairs. It has been great fun performing in front of each other. Ms Aitken  and Mr Robinson (our sports coach assistant) have been very impressed at how in time and well sequenced we are being with our routines!

  • What's the time Mr Wolf?

    Published 23/01/20, by Isla Aitken

We have been learning to tell the time to the hour and to half past the hour. We even made our own clocks!

Ask us the time on the hour and at every half past the hour to help us feel really confident about telling the time! It would also challenge us to think about things happening in an hour or 2 hours time. We might even like to think about things that have already happened an hour or half an hour ago!

There will be a lot of science involved, so to start us off we created some art using a chemical reaction between water and oil based nail varnish. The varnish created a beautiful rainbow effect on black card. Watch this space for the display on our Art to Start board. Thank you to the adults who were able to attend the workshop! There will be more opportunities to came in to class for activities or help on school trips as the year goes on.
