There wasn't a huge amount of time to practise our spellings this week so we'll test for last week's spellings on Monday 29th.
Rehearsals for our production are underway and the children are very enthusiastic!
We'd be grateful if you could find some time to practise singing the songs to help the children memorise them in time for the performance. Attached to this post are the song lyrics with the links to each song. Just copy and past the link that is underneath the title of each song into your browser and click the 'play' icon.
Please see attached sheet for this week's spellings. Have a lovely weekend!
A huge thank you to those parents who were able to come in to school to support the children with Art to Start last week. The results were absolutely stunning and the children loved creating their own sculptures inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.
Also thank you to Mrs Vost for providing us with another fantastic and exciting art lesson!
Well done to those of you who have brought in your Love to Learn homework already. It has been lovely to see your creativity!
A reminder that you are asked to produce a sculpture made from natural materials inspired by land artist Andy Goldsworthy. Please photograph your work, print the photos and either stick them in your Love to Learn book or bring them into school to show your class.
Please bring this in no later than Friday 26th November.
Thank you to those eagle-eyed parents who called our attention to the fact that the costumes list was missing from the letter sent out on Friday and that the date of the performance had a typo. This was an admin error and we're sorry for any confusion. The letter as been sent out again, this time with the costume list attached.
Year 2 are excited to be doing a Christmas production of 'Gnome Alone'! Your child will have come home with their part of the script on Friday. Please help your child to learn their lines, preferably by Monday 29th November. This will make it easier when we begin rehearsing our performance.
Apologies for spellings not going home on Friday. There was a lot to give out! They will be sent home on Monday.
On Friday, we had an Environmental Day, we spent the day thinking about our environment, learning about climate change and COP26. We had an assembly with Thanet District Council about littering and discussed things we could do to be more environmentally friendly. We also took part in the Cummins Washing Line Sculpture competition with Mrs Vost, we designed sculptures using items of clothing and material.
Parents are invited to come into school to help with our 'Art to Start' lesson next Thursday afternoon. The children will be making sculptures inspired by land artist, Andy Goldsworthy, with Mrs Vost.
This term we start the Read Write Inc. Spelling Scheme which covers all the spelling rules children need to learn in Year 2. It's a fun programme with a variety of activities which will help your child learn to spell words beyond using phonics.. New spellings will be sent home this week but as there are lots of new activities to teach the children we won't be doing a test on these until next Friday, 12th November.
Welcome back! We hope you've had a lovely half-term, we are looking forward to hearing what you've been up to!
Just a reminder that PE is on Tuesday and Thursday, so please make sure you come to school in your PE kit
