Reading for pleasure
We found time to explore the books in our book corner and from our topic display today. It was a joy to see the children so excited by and engaged with books!

This term the children have been making art inspired by Wassily Kandinsky.
We'd like to invite parents and carers to an Open Art Session this Thursday, 30th September from 1pm -2pm.
During the session you can support the children with making some art and find out a bit more about what they have been learning.
Just a reminder that new spellings will go home on Friday for next week.
Good news! I finally have all the logins for Bug Club and every child has now been allocated a book band to read. Thank you for your patience while I have been organising this.
If you have any queries about your child's reading, please do let me know.
In Year 2 we've been learning about habitats around the world. We worked in groups to draw different habitats - savannah, ocean, desert and arctic - and then drew the animals that live there and labelled them.
See the attached letter from Mr Brown with details of this term's art competition inspired by pioneering painter, Alma Thomas.
Entries must be in by Wednesday 20th October.
What will you create? I can't wait to see your efforts!
Please see below for an invitation to the Parent Council meeting.
We're learning the names of the seven continents in Topic this week so support our knowledge of different types of habitat. Click on the link to listen to the song we've been using to help us remember them and sing along!
We are starting spellings this week and these will come home in your child's book bag tomorrow.. We are beginning with common exception words (words that don't fit usual phonetic rules).
Times Tables Rock stars is a fun way to practise times tables. You can download this app for free from the Google Play or the Apple online. We have given every child a username and password and this is stuck into the inside of their reading record.
Once you've successfully signed in, you can create your rock star persona nada work your way through the levels from busking to being a headline act
This half term we'll be studying habitats. We'll be learning about a range of habitats, from savannahs to forests and also looking at microhabitats such as ponds and gardens.
Reading books were sent home today in your child's book bag. Please keep them in the plastic wallets to protect them from any spillages from water bottles.
