Fractions
In Maths we've been learning about fractions. We've been looking at how to find a 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 of an amount and today we've been investigating if 1/2 is equivalent to 2/4.

We have some new friends in our class this week - tadpoles. Lots of them! The children are fascinated by them and we are looking forward to observing the changes they will go through and learning more about their life cycle.
The children created some stunning observational drawings in their 'Art to Start' lesson this afternoon. They used real (dead) insects preserved in Perspex to examine and then draw. The results were incredible!
Team Holloway and our reading buddies, Team Dannell enjoyed the lovely spring weather on Friday afternoon. The children love the chance to read and enjoy books together!
We hope you all had a fantastic Easter break and were able to enjoy the sunshine. We look forward to welcoming you back to school tomorrow!
This first week is Personal Development Week before we begin our new topic, Life is A Journey, next Monday.
Just a reminder of the staffing changes to Team Holloway this term:
Miss Rees-Boughton will be joining Year 2 and will be based in Team Holloway.
Mrs Aldred will be joining Team Holloway as one of our Teaching Assistants.
Mr Robinson will continue to provide additional support in Team Holloway in the mornings.
PE days will continue to be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
As part of Arts Week Team Holloway learned a Ghanian call and response song, Che Che Koolay. Call and response is a key feature of African music and is great fun to do in class.
We also learned the story of The Leopard's Drum complete with actions devised by the children. I was so proud of their performance of it!
We also filmed our drama Savannah scene that we did with Mr Williams.
As if that wasn't enough, we also filmed our wonderful song about being happy.
Enjoy!
The children had an incredible time learning to drum on djembes - traditional drums from Burkina Faso. We learned to copy a rhythm and even improvised our own rhythms.
We had a brilliant time in our storytelling workshop. The children contributed ideas for a story about a lion coming into our school and our storyteller created a story just for us. It was absolutely hilarious! As k your child to try and retell it to you.
