    Today in our music workshop we worked on using percussion in time to a song from The Lion King. Team Okai even go to play the song using glockenspiels!

  • Drama in the Savanna

    Today we had a drama workshop with Mr Williams based on creating a Savannah scene. Team Okai used sound and movement to create different elements of the Savannah, like the trees, grass and animals.  Members of the audience added atmosphere by making a soundscape of the different animals and insects. Team Okai had such a great time!

  • Stop Motion Workshop

    Today we experienced making short films using stop-motion animation, a technique where pictures are taken of objects as they move in small increments. We were split into four groups and each group made an animation inspired by the different animals and settings in the Sahara Desert.

    Today Team Okai learnt about African masks, and made some of their own using different materials. They used different shapes and layers of colours and patterns to make their masks symmetrical.

  • The Leopard's Drum

    This week we are basing our writing on The Leopard's Drum, an Asante tale from Ghana. Leopard has a magnificent drum, but he doesn't want anyone to share it.

  • Arts' Week - The Lion King cast assembly and Songwriting workshop

    Wow! What an amazing start to Arts' week. We kicked off this extra special week with a fantastic assembly given by two members of the cast from the West End production of The Lion King. Shannon and Kuan led an action-packed workshop where we danced, sang and performed part of a song from the production. It was incredible fun and such a treat to see the performers.

    This week we will be taking part in creative activities based on The Lion King. As part of this we will be doing dance instead of the usual PE sessions. Please could children wear their PE kit on Thursday.
