Writing Targets in Year 4

So, what do we expect from children in their writing in Year 4? Read on to find out more...

Writing can be difficult. Not only do you have thing about what it is that you want to write, but you have to make sure that it makes sense, is engaging and interesting with well-chosen vocabulary and that everything is spelled and punctuated to the best of your ability, grammatically correct, paragraphed and follows the correct structure for the genre of text. Phew! No wonder children sometimes forget to use capital letters and full stops with so much going on...

If you would like to find out more about some of the Writing targets that children are expected to achieve in Year 4, then please check out the attached posters. There are three of them: working towards expected level, at expected level and showing understanding in greater depth.
