On Thursday, the school celebrated the Queen's Jubilee - as the actual event will occur during the half-term break. All the children were wearing red, white and blue and the House Captains participated in a Quiz to see how much they knew already about our longest-reigning monarch...
In our writing this week, the children have been writing an explanation text about the human heart and how it works. This was inspired by our core text 'Pig heart Boy', as it is clear that the main character, Cameron, unfortunately has a failing heart...
On Friday, year 6 had two acts participating in the school talent show final. Although possibly biased, I certainly thought they were the best acts in a strong field and I definitely would have chosen one of them for the title...

Our core text for this term (and the beginning of next term too) has been 'Pig Heart Boy' by Malorie Blackman. It tells the tale of a young boy - Cam - who suffered from a heart infection a few years ago and consequently is dying. His only hope is a revolutionary heart transplant - inserting a heart from a pig into his body...
It is just over two weeks now until we set off to the Isle of Wight for our residential trip. We have had the itinerary through from PGL and have shared it with the children in class...
As the children have been taking tests this week, we have said that there will be no set learning tasks, HOWEVER we would still like the children to continue with their four signed reads...
As a well done for the superb efforts during SATS testing, year 6 went on a short trip to Broadstairs for a picnic lunch and a film in the Palace cinema...
This week has been tough for the children, but they have been fabulous and should be extremely proud of themselves! Although pleased that it is over, one downside is that we will no longer be getting a cooked breakfast every morning...
Tomorrow (Friday 13th May) we will be visiting the Palace Cinema in Broadstairs for a post SATS treat...
