Making equal groups by sharing....

Today we carried on looking at making equal groups, this time by sharing.  We explored this practically using concrete resources and physically sharing them into groups. At this stage, we do not write number sentences using the division symbol, but instead use our racy skills to explain what is happening using the language of division, for example,“there are____ counters shared equally into ____groups. There are in each ____group”.

Maybe you could try sharing amounts at home. Can you share 10 pieces of pasta into 5 groups? How many are in each group?
