English: The Green Ship

Today, Team Amin officially began their new core text and theme of adventure narratives. Our core text will be 'The Green Ship' by Quentin Blake, which we shall be reading together this week as the children return back to their roles as a 'boss', 'clarifier', 'summariser', 'questioner' and 'predictor' in our guided reading sessions. In English today, we revisited last week's learning and thought about the key features of a great story! Team Amin came up with some lovely ideas and discussed elements such as suspense, tension, intrigue and, of course, linguistic features like SPAG, alliteration and super use of description to paint a picture in the reader's mind. We recorded our thoughts on a mind map, collaborating brilliantly with our partners. I was so impressed that we recalled the 'hook, problem and resolution' structure too! What great learning today, Team Amin!
