Evolution and adaptation
Within our topic on 'Living Alive', we have focused this week on the ideas of Darwin and his theory of Evolution...
We looked at Darwin's expedition to the Galapagos islands and how he developed his theories. Key terms and concepts, such as 'Adaptation', 'Survival of the Fittest', 'Evolution' and 'Inheritance' have been looked at in detail.
During class discussions, the children have given excellent, scientific responses to the key questions. In addition, there were many wonderful diary entries as Charles Darwin and some clear explanations of adaptation and evolution using the giraffe as an example.
