Topic Learning

This week, year 6 have begun their new topic - 'Mexico: Then and Now'...

We have begun with the 'then' part of the topic, which is a historical look at the parts of Mexico that were once inhabited by the Maya tribe.

Similar in many ways to the Inca or Aztec tribes, the Maya built great cities, developed astronomy, created calendars and had systems for writing and mathematics.

In this first week of the topic, the children have used maps to locate the site of this ancient empire, explored the Mayan beliefs (and some of their gods) and delved into the everyday life of the Mayan civilisation.

Attached are a few pictures of some of the tasks produced by a selection of pupils, who always go above and beyond with their level of care and dedication in the presentation of their learning.
