Fine Motor Skills
When we talk about fine motor skills, we are talking about the little muscles in hands and wrists. We're normally looking at pencil grip, scissor control and skills like using tweezers etc.
There was a lot of discussion on pencil grip at parent's evening. I've attached some posters that show how we encourage the children to hold pencils and use scissors. I hope these help; do let me know if there's anything else you'd like more information on.
In terms of pencil control, there has been so much progress from the children in terms of letter formation, it's been amazing to compare now to the start of reception - which was only 8ish weeks ago! We're certainly on the right track!
