The Speaker 2024

In assembly this week, Mr holliday introduced 'The Viking Speaker' competition theme for this year - If I ruled the world, the first thing I would do would be to….

It is completely optional if the children wish to enter, but if they do, then the children have been told that they will need to work on their speeches over the half term break. A planning document was prepared for the children to support them in generating ideas and structuring their speech, and was left on the side of the classroom, with children being instructed to take one if they wished to enter.

Each class will hold a 'Speaker Competition' in the first two weeks next term and vote for one winner from each class. That winner will perform their speech during the whole-school assembly on Monday 4th March to a panel of judges. Three school winners will then be selected to participate in 'The Viking Speaker' competition on Friday 22nd March at Royal Harbour - against the winners from Chilton and Upton.

The Powerpoint Mr Holiday used to introduce the competition in assembly has been attached if you want further ideas.
