Wonderful writing
For our new topic, we have read the incredibly emotive book, 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' and used it to drive lots of excellent discussion, and produce an exceptional informal letter...
Taking on the role of Bruno, who has had to leave Berlin and move to Out-With (Auschwitz) for his father's work, we wrote letters back to his grandmother. In them, we included how we felt about the move, what the first few months had been like, how the move had impacted the family and what we planned on doing next.
The standard of writing was easily the best we have seen so far, and they are now safely in most of the publishing books!
For the rest of the term, we will be focusing on 'Goodnight Mister Tom' and trying to create historical narratives, following an evacuee.
