This week we are looking at doubling. Today we looked at pairs, specifically, matching pairs. We found matching pairs of numeral and then introduced the term 'doubling'. If you want to practice doubling at home, you can sing the doubling song we are singing every day!

Wear green on Tuesday to raise awareness about CDG!
On Friday this week, the children in Team Emin (the blue house) will bring in their objects for show and tell. Please bring the objects in, in the morning and give them to Mr. Jones. The objects should not be toys, but rather objects with a story or objects which the child has created. If you are not sure which house your child is in, look at the basket they put their reading folder in, and it will show you the colour of their house. Their reading folder will also have the colour of their house along the zip.

We had a lovely afternoon planting our plants! They have received a lot of rain over the last few days, and they look great. Below are some photos from the day!
Congenital Disorders for Glycosylation awareness (DCG) Tuesday 16th May
Our Ready, Steady, Grow topic has been going very well. We have learnt lots about plants already. We have learnt that a flower is made up of roots, a stem, leaves and petals, that a plant is a living thing. We have done observational drawings of plants, dissected a flower and annotated our drawings of flowers with the correct technical language. We have also learnt that different plants grow in different climates and that the food we eat comes from different places!
Today, Lizzete, one of the amazing chefs working at RAPS came and spoke to us about the food we eat and where it comes from. We had an amazing time with her and really enjoyed her visit. Later, we spoke about where all our different foods come from, looking specifically at our snack that day. We learn that different foods grow in different climates and countries! Our tomatoes were from Spain, our clementines were from Morocco and our bananas were from the Ivory Coast!

Last Friday, in recognition of the Coronation, we had a little tea party in the garden, The children made jam sandwiches and decorated biscuits, and we all ate together in the garden.
The children did some amazing maths last week, ask them about their 2D and 3D shape knowledge! We learnt that a 2D shape has vertices and sides and that a 3D shape has vertices, edges and faces! Try and spot 2d and 3D shapes in real live over the weekend.
