We have been practising our doubles and we can now name doubles to 5 - test us at home! We have also learnt about the relationship between addition and doubling and we can write addition sentences to show doubles.

Which plants can we eat? Which foods are healthy and which ones are not so healthy? Which fruits do we know and where do they grow?
Continuing our topic learning about plants last week we talked about which foods we eat. We know we can eat plants and we discussed how we can have a healthy diet. We know some foods can be healthier than others and we enjoyed sorting foods into healthy and unhealthy. We learnt that it's okay to eat some things that are not so healthy but always in moderation. We also looked at recipes. Recipes are instructions that you follow in the right order and they contain information about equipment we need and ingredients. Why don't you try making a healthy recipe at home? Perhaps you can find out where the ingredients are grown? We loved exploring different fruits and the best bit was making fruit kebabs! Yum!

If your child is in Blue group they are welcome to bring in an item to show and tell on Friday 19th May. Please encourage them to choose something they can talk about at length (a souvenir, a photo, a special gift) to develop their oracy skills.

This week we have been practising using a number line - and even in our heads - to find one more and one less than a given number.
What a wonderful afternoon we all had on Wednesday planting up tomato plants and giving all our potted plants a new home in the outside area. Thank you for all the help from parents and carers who didn't mind getting their hands dirty!
Congenital Disorders for Glycosylation (CDG) awareness day Tuesday 16th May
Today, Lizzete, one of the amazing chefs working at RAPS came and spoke to us about the food we eat and where it comes from. We had an amazing time with her and really enjoyed her visit. Later, we spoke about where all our different foods come from, looking specifically at our snack that day. We learn that different foods grow in different climates and countries! Our tomatoes were from Spain, our clementines were from Morocco and our bananas were from the Ivory Coast!

What does it feel like to be a part of history?
Fun! Reception got into the spirit of the Coronation last Friday. Everyone in RAPS was invited to wear red, white and blue and we enjoyed a selection of activities from flag and crown making to enjoying preparing our own tea party making jam sandwiches and decorating biscuits with red, white and blue icing. We made the most of our sandwich making to practice writing instructions!
