  • Term 5 Love to Learn

    Published 27/04/23, by Sally Smart

Thank you for all the hard work you put into your Love to Learn challenge last term. We were so impressed with the detail in which you documented your growing challenge and the children are really enjoying looking after their plants in school. The Love to Learn challenge for this term will be to create some fantastic beach art in preparation for our topic and trip to the beach in Term 6. You have until 5th June to complete the work. It is a great opportunity to support your child with their learning. The books will be coming home soon with details of the new challenge but you can also find it here:

  • Matching and sorting

    Published 27/04/23, by Sally Smart

Last week in maths we reminded ourselves about the difference between matching and sorting. We know that objects match when they are the same. We enjoyed thinking of lots of different ways to sort to a range of objects.

  • Ready steady grow!

    Published 27/04/23, by Sally Smart

We have got our new science based topic off to a great start this term. Thank you for all your hard work taking part in the Love to Learn challenge with your child and we enjoyed sharing our projects last week.  This week we have been learning what is a plant and we now have a fantastic selection of plants growing in Blue Room and we are learning how to take care of them! We have learnt how to identify and name the parts of a plant and their function. We concentrated hard on our observational drawings of plants and even tried watercolour painting. We also know that not all plants have flowers.

  • Show and Tell in Term 5

    Published 03/04/23, by Sally Smart

Show and Tell will continue to be held on Fridays in term 5. Show and Tell is a great opportunity for the children to practise and hone their oracy skills! It is hugely popular and we often don't have time for everyone to show their objects so from Term 5 each week we will rotate on a house by house basis which should give the children more time to talk about their object. We would like the children to bring in things they have plenty to talk about such as something they have made, a souvenir from a trip or holiday, a sporting award or a special photograph would be ideal. Please could they avoid bringing in cuddly toys (or McDonalds toys!) thankyou. The house dates are below:

Week 1 (Friday 21st April) - Emin (blue)

Week 2 (Friday 28th April) - Bussell (red)

Week 3 (Friday 5th May) - Malone (green)

Week 4 (Friday 12th May) - Elba (yellow)

Week 5 (Friday 19th May) - Emin (blue)

Week 6 (Friday 26th May) - Bussell (red)

Wow! What AMAZING Easter bonnets! The children in Reception and Year 1 looked incredible in their bonnets and proudly paraded them through the school to the huge applause of the rest of RAPS on Friday. It was great fun and a great start to our Easter fun!
