  • Tuesday: Viking Games

    Published 19/05/23, by Joshua Cialis

On Tuesday, we will be taking part in the Viking Games.

We will be travelling to Upton Junior to take part in the Viking Games. Please can all children arrive as normal for 8:30am on the day of the competition. We will be leaving promptly to walk to the station to catch the train.

Children should come to school wearing their PE kits, ideally with a t-shirt of their house colour if possible, and wearing sports trainers.

If the weather is hot, please can children bring a hat, wear sun cream and have a water bottle with them. If it turns out to be a chilly day, jogging bottoms and a jumper will be needed.

They will also need a packed lunch as we are going to eat lunch at Upton. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, they will receive a school packed lunch.

If you think your child would benefit from reading the social story, it is attached below.

  • Spelling Practice

    Published 03/05/23, by Joshua Cialis

You will notice that the spellings sent home this week are slightly different to those normally sent home. These are a practise for the upcoming Viking Trust Countdown competition.

Next term, there will be a Trust competition where RAPS children will compete against Chilton and Upton to be crowned the Trust 'mastermind'.

The competition will look to challenge all pupils on their spelling and times tables knowledge and see a team from each school go head to head in a Trust final.

Please practise these spellings for our spelling test on Friday. These can be practised in any way but please hand back the sheets on Friday as normal.

  • Art to Start

    Published 26/04/23, by Joshua Cialis

This week, year 4 did their Art to Start. We created insect water colours inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe. Georgia O’Keeffe is recognised as being a pioneer of American modernism. She was highly praised for her art, which was unusual for a woman in a male dominated art world. For creative inspiration, we used O'Keeffe's quote: "I had to create an equivalent for what I felt about what I was looking at – not copy it."

Using insects in resin, we sketched our design. We then added detail using water colours and made a very bright background.
