World Book Day in Team Cole

World Book Day Fun

We had a fantastic day celebrating World Book Day in Team Cole. It was lovely to see the children come into school dressed as their favourite characters or wearing comfy clothes ready to enjoy their favourite books. Thank you to all the parents for helping to make this happen. It really takes all of us working together to build a love of reading.

The day before, the children were also given a World Book Day book token which they can use to choose a free book. The children were very excited about this and it was lovely to talk about the books they might choose.

We started the day with a special circle time where the children shared the books they had brought in from home. Everyone enjoyed talking about their favourite stories and listening to what their friends like to read.

After this, we headed to PE where we played some fun book themed games, including building houses for the Three Little Pigs. The children had to work together to build strong houses and think about which materials might be the best.

Next, we had a teacher book swap where Miss Amin from Year 2 came to visit our class to read us one of her favourite stories. The children were fantastic listeners and really enjoyed sharing a story with a different teacher.

Later in the day we had a very exciting visit from a local author. They read their book to us and the children had the chance to ask lots of brilliant questions such as how long it takes to write a book and how books are made.

Throughout the day the children also had time to look through the books together, share them with friends, and even draw or copy pictures and words from the stories they love.

It was such a wonderful day filled with stories, imagination and lots of book talk.
