World Book Day Fun in Team Piper...

Stories, Smiles and a Love of Reading...
We had a wonderful World Book Day in Team Piper. It was lovely to see the children bring in their favourite books from home!
We started the day with a circle time where the children shared the books they had brought in and talked about why they liked them. It was a great opportunity to hear lots of different stories and book recommendations. The children also had time to look through their books, share them with friends and even draw or copy pictures and words from the stories.
After this, we headed to PE where the children took part in some book inspired games, including building houses for The Three Little Pigs!
We then had a special teacher book swap where Miss Morris came to read us one of her favourite stories. She was very impressed with how well the children listened.
Later in the day we were lucky enough to have a visit from a local author, Em Cosh, who read us their book and answered some fantastic questions from the children. We asked things like, how long it takes to write a book? And how books are made?
Overall it was a lovely day filled with stories, book talk and a shared love of reading. Thank you to Miss O'Flaherty for organising such a wonderful day, and thank you to the parents for helping the children dress up in costumes or come as what they love to read. It really does take all of us to help build a love of reading.
