Maths Step 5: One More

Today we continued our learning with numbers to 10 and focused on finding 1 more.

The children were amazing! We practised looking at a number, thinking about what comes next, and saying sentences like:
“7 is 1 more than 6.”

We then played a fun game of bingo where the children had to:
• look at the number
• work out 1 more
• find it on their board

There was lots of excitement and some very quick mathematicians!

💬 Try this at home:
• Ask your child “What is 1 more than…?” (use numbers to 10)
• Use fingers or count aloud together
• Make a simple bingo game with numbers 0–9
• Challenge: Can they say the next number without counting?
