Viking Speaker Competition 2026

This year the theme is 'Pitch your passion'.

In English lessons, everyone has begun to write their own two-minute speech on something they are passionate about. It can be about anything. Some children have chosen to focus on art, some on capybaras and some on sports!

Over the next few days and weekend, we encourage children to work on their speeches at home and develop these, before reading their speeches on Monday to the class if they wish to enter the competition. This is an oracy competition, so we will be looking for children to present their speech confidently and engage their audience, trying to pitch their passion to them.

It will be a two-minute presentation, with no props or slides. One child from each class will go through to the school competition on Monday 16th March, and those who win the school competition will go to Royal Harbour Academy to compete against the winners from Chilton and Upton!
