Wondeful Gardens and Marshes!

Today, Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic school trip to the beautiful Westgate Gardens and Hambrook Marshes. We were very lucky with the weather and had a lovely sunny day to explore different habitats and discover the living things that can be found there.
We started our adventure in the more “tame” habitat at Westgate Gardens, where we observed the plants, trees and wildlife living near the river. The children enjoyed spotting birds, insects and flowers while learning how living things depend on their habitats to survive.
We then followed the River Stour towards Hambrook Marshes, taking in the beautiful scenery along the way. At the marshes, the children explored the wilder habitat of ponds and marshland. They were excited to discover lots of different living things and carefully observed the variety of plants, insects we could find.
The trip was a wonderful opportunity for the children to compare habitats and think about how environments can differ, even when they are close together. The children showed great enthusiasm, curiosity and teamwork throughout the day.
To finish off our trip, everyone enjoyed some well-earned fun playing in the park before heading home tired but happy after such a lovely day of learning outdoors!
