Spellings & L2L

This week, in our spelling sessions, we have been looking at the suffices 'ible' and 'able'...

The general rule seems to be that if the root word makes sense on its own, you use 'able', such as in the case of 'reliable' - as the root word 'rely' is a word in its own right. Where the root word isn't real, you tend to use 'ible'. For example, with 'visible', as 'vis' is not a word!

Alas, with the English language being as it is, there are always exceptions!

As we have come to the end of our topic (with next week being our Personal Development week), we have sent home one final, short comprehension linked to the second world war.

Electronic copies of both are attached in case your child has already managed to lose their paper version.
