Maths: Exploring and Classifying Shapes

Exploring 3D shapes...
This week, Team Amin are exploring shapes in Maths and have been looking at 2D and 3D shape names and properties. Today, we used hoops (thank you Mrs Horrigan!) to help us create Venn diagrams to sort 3D shapes based on different categories. We worked as table groups, as a class and independently too to sort lots of shapes such as spheres, cones, square-based pyramids, cubes, cuboids, tetrahedrons and even pentagonal prisms and pentagonal (based) pyramids! How fabulous and what fun we had! For the rest of this week, we are going to look at how we can classify triangles by the length of their sides and the size of their angles.
