I am learning to read red words.
Red words are those words that the children cannot ‘sound out’. For example, if we said the sounds th-e and blended them together it doesn’t make the word ‘the’. Therefore, we have to memorise these words as a whole. You can do this by having the words on the fridge and asking the children to read them when they walk past, playing snap with the words or matching pairs. The words we have learnt so far are I, the, my, of, he, for and put.
