Electric circuits

Learning about complete and incomplete circuits

Today we learnt about the difference between complete and incomplete circuits. The children discovered that in an incomplete circuit, the bulb will not light up because the electrical current can’t flow all the way around.

We then looked closely at a range of circuit examples, predicting whether each one was complete or incomplete. After sharing our ideas, we had the chance to build the circuits ourselves to test our predictions.

It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged — working together, experimenting, and thinking scientifically as they observed what happened when the circuits were connected correctly. Hands-on learning like this really helps the children understand how electricity works and builds their confidence to explore and ask questions.
