Term 3 Personal Development Week - Team Hayzelden

This week has been personal development week. We have worked so hard in every lesson. See below for what we have been working on!

Core Values

Looking at our core value of resilience, we explored how we can change our mindset to encourage ourselves to always keep trying. We created mini posters showing how we can transform phrases like 'I can't do it yet!' or 'it's rubbish' into phrases like 'I can try again or ask for help'.

British Values

During our British Values lesson we wrote a short script to film as part of a school movie. Our focus was the rule of law which showed that the law keeps us safe and makes sure everyone is treated equally.

Emotional Literacy

We began our lesson by discussing what we mean by emotional literacy and managing our emotions. A self-management strategy we can use is that of organisation. After learning the phrase ‘tidy space, tidy mind’ we then made a to-do list and tidied our books. This made us feel great.

Citizenship

In this lesson we learnt about tax, what it is, how it gets collected and what is done with the money collected. We role-played as workers earning a wage and then paid tax to HMRC.
