The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

In Year 4, we have been reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Throughout this unit, we have been developing our inference skills by closely exploring Edward’s character, using evidence from the text to understand his thoughts, feelings, and motivations. Building on this work, the children have written a playscript, thinking carefully about dialogue, stage directions, and how to show character through actions and speech. Today, we focused on how Edward’s character changes as the story progresses, discussing how his experiences shape his attitudes and emotions and how this development can be shown in their writing.
