STEAM Week! Hex Bugs...

Lesson 1...
Today, as part of our STEAM Week, Team Piper were introduced to Hex Bugs and spent the session exploring how they move.
The children observed the Hex Bugs carefully, watching what happened when they moved across different surfaces and when they bumped into objects. We talked about what they noticed, how the Hex Bugs changed direction, and whether they moved fast or slow. This led to lots of curiosity, questions, and great discussion.
The focus of today’s lesson was exploration and observation rather than building. The children were encouraged to handle the Hex Bugs safely, take turns, and share what they noticed with their friends. This helped to develop their speaking and listening skills, as well as their early scientific thinking.
In our next lesson, the children will work in their groups to design their own mazes. We are very excited for Thursday morning, when we will finally build our Hex Bug mazes together. We hope to see some grown ups just after drop off to help us create our Hex Bug mazes and bring our ideas to life.
