World Book Day-Thursday 5th March

Thursday 5th March....
This years World Book Day is on Thursday 5th March and the Theme is 'Go All in!'. It’s all about finding your own way to enjoy reading - whether that’s through fantasy, facts, comics, mysteries, poetry, or anything else that inspires you!
At RAPS this year, we have some exciting plans and activities for the children to engage with! On World Book day, we are lucky enough to have local author Em Cosh in to talk to children about their new book 'The Magic Scarf'. The children will have a chance to have a sneak peek of the book and learn more about their writing process as well as have a chance to draw their own characters! Signed copies of Em's books can be ordered through Happy Reading Bookshop Basket | Happy Reading Children's Bookshop Throughout the day, children will be taking part in a range of fun, reading-based activities, including a live lesson with exciting authors, a World Book Day quiz, and many other engaging opportunities to celebrate books and storytelling. It’s set to be a fantastic day filled with imagination, creativity, and a shared love of reading!
The children should bring in a copy of their favourite book either from home, the library or our school library as some of the days activities will be based on these books. If they choose to, they can dress up as a character from the book or come in cosy reading clothes like pyjamas! We encourage families not to buy costumes online but instead to get creative with what you have at home. A stripy top can become a famous book character, a blanket can turn into a superhero cape! Please see the attached suggestions for low cost, low effort costume ideas. Remember, the most important part is that children have a book that they love and are excited to share with their class!
