Respect and tolerance

Today in class we talked about how to disagree respectfully. We learnt that we don’t have to agree with someone to treat them kindly. As long as a person’s opinion isn’t hurting anyone or breaking the rules, we can respect their right to think differently than we do. We also learnt that tolerance is a British value in the UK, which means accepting that other people may have different beliefs or opinions. When we start to disagree, we can pause, listen carefully, and try to understand instead of trying to win. We can say things like, “I see it differently,” or “Can you tell me more about why you think that?”
