World Book Day TM

We love talkig about and sharing books in Team Millidine!

What a fantastic World Book Day we had in class! The children arrived in some brilliant costumes, dressed as their favourite book characters, while others came in cosy pyjamas ready for a day full of stories and imagination.

We started the day with a lively hot air balloon debate, where children had to decide which famous book characters should be saved if the balloon was sinking! There were some brilliant discussions as pupils justified their choices and explained why their characters were the most important to keep.

Later, we enjoyed a special assembly with a visiting author, who shared her brand-new book with us. The children loved hearing the story and learning a little about what it’s like to be a real author.

We also joined a BBC Live Lesson, where we explored the different types of books we enjoy reading and talked about how stories can make us feel — from excitement and laughter to curiosity and even a little suspense.

To finish our World Book Day celebrations, the children created their own comic strips, retelling the story of their favourite book. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they turned well-known stories into colourful comics.

A brilliant day celebrating the joy of reading!
