Rose Blanche diaries

Our topic this term has been 'World at War' and, consequently, we have covered some challenging topics: none more so than the Holocaust...

Alongside our topic lessons, in English, we looked at the short book 'Rose Blanche'. This story follows the actions of a young German girl, who witnesses something she is unsettled by in her town. Following an army truck out of the town and into the nearby woods, Rose discovers a concentration camp.

In lessons, the children have tried to plan, write and edit contrasting diary entries to encapsulate the differing emotions. We began with the euphoric scenes of patriotism as the soldiers head off to war, before exploring the emotions attached to the discovery of the camp.

Some wonderful pieces of writing have been produced - hopefully you can read them when attending the Parents' Consultations net week!
