Making 10 with Numicon...

Exploring parts and wholes in Team Piper!
Today we explored number bonds to 10 using Numicon.
We learnt that 10 is the whole and we can make it using two parts. The children practised saying:
“6 is a part, 4 is a part, the whole is 10.”
They worked with partners to find different ways to make 10 and loved checking their ideas using the Numicon pieces.
We saw some fantastic teamwork and super maths thinking!
💬 Try this at home:
• Ask: “What makes 10?” (e.g. 5 and 5, 7 and 3) You can use your fingers to help you!
• Use toys or snacks to make 10 in different ways
• Practise saying: “__ and __ make 10” Maybe whil driving in the car?
• Challenge: Can they remember the pairs without counting?
