Coral Reefs

Our topic lessons have continued in the afternoons, with us looking in depth at the threats posed by climate change...

One way to best illustrate how climate change is impacting our world was to look at coral reefs.  The children found out that these living, underwater habitats are home to 25% of the world's marine life. It is, however, under threat as the sea temperature rises.  Large parts are affected by coral bleaching, which means they expel all the algae that provides them with their vivid colour and essential nutrients.

The children carried out research into this important issue and created some very thoughtful information texts.
