Lessons from Land and Water - Team Hayzelden

This week we have delved into our new topic 'Land and Water'.
We began our new topic with our Art to Start, where we looked at the work of the artist Georgia O'Keeffe. We looked at examples of her landscape work, before creating our own landscape artwork. We used pencil to sketch the layers of the landscape, before using chalk pastels to add vibrant colours to our work.

Then, we moved on to learn about the difference between rural and urban areas. We talked about each of these in detail, before sorting different ways in which land is used in each area. Team Hayzelden were shocked to learn that 90% of land in the UK is rural space.

Later in the week, we explored how mountains are formed. We looked at how dome, volcanic, plateau, fold and block mountains are formed, before creating these out of play doh and lego.

We have had a fantastic week of learning to launch our new topic, and are looking forward to learning more next week!
