Maths Master Builders

Copy, Compare and Create!
Today, the classroom was buzzing as the children became Maths Master Builders! Working with a partner, one child built a model using the construction resources while their partner looked carefully and tried to recreate it exactly.
The children used brilliant maths language to talk about shape, size, colour, position and how many pieces they needed. They showed great teamwork, careful looking and problem-solving as they checked their models matched.
What amazing mathematicians!
ow to try this at home
You could try this at home using LEGO, building blocks or even household objects. Build a simple model first, then ask your child to copy it exactly.
Encourage them to look carefully and talk about what they can see using words like next to, on top, under, beside, same, different, bigger, smaller and how many.
You could then swap roles and let your child become the builder while you try to copy their creation!
