Community Planting Team BC

Year 2 Community Gardening at Margate Station 🌼

A small group of Year 2 children enjoyed a wonderful trip to Margate Station with Mrs Welvens and Mrs Moore to take part in some community gardening.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by Rory and Stuart from the community charity Wilderness to Wonderland. Before our visit, we had been carefully growing our flowers from plug plants in class. The plants were kindly donated by Jackie at Young's Nursery, and it was so exciting to finally see them ready for their new home.

The children were fantastic gardeners! They eagerly got involved, carefully removing each plant from its pot while looking after the delicate roots. They used gardening tools to dig holes, planted the flowers with great care, and then gave them a good drink of water.

It was lovely to see the children's enthusiasm and teamwork as they helped make the station brighter and more welcoming for everyone. They were very proud of their hard work and enjoyed standing back to admire the beautiful flower beds they had created.

If you are passing through Margate Station over the coming weeks, do take a moment to admire the flower beds and see the wonderful contribution our Year 2 children have made to the local community.

A big thank you to Rory, Stuart, Jackie, and everyone who helped make this special community experience possible!
