Summer Challenge

This week, we were lucky enough to be visited by our local librarians, who told us all about the Summer Reading Challenge. This year's theme is 'Read to the Beat', celebrating music, creativity and the enjoyment of reading.

The Summer Reading Challenge is a free initiative run by libraries across the UK, encouraging children to continue reading throughout the summer holidays. Children can visit their local library, sign up for the challenge and borrow books to read over the break. They are free to choose books that interest them, including fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, comics, poetry, audiobooks and e-books.

As children progress through the challenge, they can collect rewards and receive a certificate and medal when they complete it. The challenge is designed to help children maintain their reading skills over the summer while discovering new books and authors.

During our visit, the librarians explained how families can get involved and shared some of the exciting activities that will be taking place in local libraries throughout the holidays.
