Good to be me: Choosing to be assertive

Discussions, roleplay and some more debating
As part of our 'Good to be Me' theme for this week, Team Amin explored what it means to be assertive. Each of us looked up the meaning of 'assertive' in the dictionary before considering how we can act assertively in different situations, such as when someone pushes into a queue or when a friend is crossing the road dangerously. We have learnt that being assertive means you are not aggressive or passive but you are firm in protecting and respecting your own thoughts, feelings and territories and that of others. After some roleplay to explore how we would act assertively in tricky situations, Team Amin staged another debate on a topic that the children picked - "Are computer games good for us?". Please take a look at some of the pictures below of Team Amin in their debate about whether computer games are good or not. We must say that Team Amin's arguments were really very impressive and well thought out! Reasoning was justified, each child spoke confidently and clearly and maintained eye contact well. Well done, Team Amin!
