The great egg drop

On the first day back, the children took part in the great egg drop challenge.

As a team building exercise, we set the children the challenge of coming up with a design to protect an egg being dropped out of our classroom window.  With limited resources (cardboard, plastic cups, straws, string and off cuts of material) they set about designing their protector.  Once finished, they then had to present the designs to the rest of the class who had to predict whether they would be successful in protecting their egg.  Next came the frantic build and then the tantalizing drop.

I'm pleased to say that all groups were successful in keeping their precious eggs safe.  It was great to see such excellent collaboration and creative thinking, this certainly bodes well for the rest of the year.
