Environmental Day

On Friday we had our Environmental Day. We started the day learning all about climate change and what COP26 is.  We then wrote a letter to either our Member of Parliament Craig Mackinlay or our Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking them to take action to tackle the climate crisis. Next, we had an assembly with Thanet District Council about littering. We learnt a great new song called, 'Just Bin It!' In the afternoon we had Mr Brown from the Art Team in our class and we took part in the Cummings Washing Line Sculpture competition. We had to create a sculpture on a washing line using items of clothing or material. The winning class wins a Weather Station donated by Cummings, so fingers crossed for Team McCormack!

At the end of the day we had The Big Draw - Make The Change. It was great to see parents and children coming together to draw a forest with eco tape in the hall, raising awareness of how trees and tree growth can make a positive change to our lives and our world.
