Dazzling young RAPS stars wow The Granville

Talented young stars shone in the spotlight when Ramsgate Arts Primary staged its Creative Showcase at the town’s Granville Theatre.
The dazzling production highlighted the enthusiasm, dedication and skills of pupils involved onstage and off with loud applause from an audience of families, friends and staff ringing around the seaside venue.
Every class in Key Stage 2 part, captivating the crowd with dance, musical theatre and live music in a culmination of months of planning and rehearsal.
Taking centre stage was a big learning curve for many of the performers as it was the biggest production they have been involved with.
Year 3 brought the rainforest to life with a vibrant and expressive dance, while Year 4 wowed the crowd with a musical theatre medley featuring songs from Moana. Year 5 took audiences on a journey through the cosmos with a space-themed dance, and Year 6 delivered a powerful musical theatre performance with songs from The Greatest Showman.
Adding to the spectacle, the RAPS Dance Company showcased their talent, while the RAPS Orchestra impressed with a three-part harmony ukulele performance, accompanied by David in Year 6 on the cello.
A live band provided music for the whole-school songs, including All You Need Is Love and True Colours, with the school choir delighting the audience with a joyful rendition of Happy and other uplifting numbers.
The showcase was expertly compared by Year 6 Young Leaders Seb, Juno, Annie, and Agnes, who guided the evening with confidence and charisma.
A special highlight of the night was the staff band, who entertained with their renditions of Help by The Beatles and Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen.
A standout moment came from guest performer and local musician Thomas Abrahams, who mesmerised the audience with his loop-pedal mastery. His stunning performance was made even more moving when the RAPS Choir joined him to sing Don’t Give Up On Me.
Assistant Head of School Hannah Dannell, who coordinated the event, expressed her pride in the pupils: “This showcase is a testament to the incredible creativity and hard work of our students. They have truly put their hearts into every performance.”
Head of School Nick Budge agreed. He said: “This event wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our brilliant arts curriculum team, our choir master Naomi Hammerton, and, of course, the support of our wonderful families. Their generosity in buying tickets ensures we can continue to enrich our children’s education through the arts.
“Proceeds from the event will go directly towards further arts enrichment opportunities, reinforcing our commitment to creativity as a core part of the curriculum.
“Thanks to the continued support of parents and the wider community, RAPS remains a beacon of artistic excellence, inspiring young performers to shine.”
