Thursday's maths - 30/4/20

Yesterday you looked at days, months and years. Today we will look at shorter units of time – seconds and minutes…

Remember that there are 60 seconds in a minute. Therefore, for every minute there are 60 seconds, so 3 minutes is 3 lots of 60 seconds (3x60) = 180 seconds.

If you are asked to order a set of times and some are in minutes and some are in seconds, the easiest way is often to convert them all into the same unit (change them all into seconds for example).

This works for ‘mixed’ times too, so 2 minutes 25 seconds could become 2 lots of 60 seconds plus another 25 or 145 seconds.
