Patterns in Team Piper...

From pinecones to crates — we’ve been busy pattern-making!
Today in Team Piper, we have been learning all about repeating patterns. We started by spotting different examples together and predicting what would come next — red, blue, red, blue!
The children then had the chance to make their own patterns using lots of exciting materials. We used natural objects such as conkers, leaves, and pinecones, and some of us even went outside to make repeating patterns with crates and blocks!
Everyone showed fantastic focus and creativity when copying, continuing, and inventing their own ideas. We talked about how patterns can be made in lots of different ways — by colour, size, or shape — and the children loved explaining their thinking.
You could try this at home too! Have a go at making a pattern using household objects like spoons, socks, or Lego. Can your grown-up spot what comes next?
It’s been such a fun and colourful maths lesson in Team Piper today! 🍂✨
