Talk and Play in Reception- Thanks for coming grown ups!

Today Reception had a fantastic time during our “Talk and Play” session organised by our SENCO, Mrs Hughes. We had lots of different activities out to encourage communication and listening skills – from small world play and games that needed turn-taking, to simple talking prompts that got the children sharing ideas and chatting with each other. Developing these skills in the early years is so important, as it helps children build their confidence, make friends, follow instructions and get ready for reading, writing and learning across the curriculum. I’ve attached some more ideas for you to try at home if you’d like to keep supporting your child’s speaking and listening. A big thank you to all the parents who came along to join in the fun and support the session – it makes such a difference to the children to see you involved.
