Maths step 5 and 6...

In maths, the children have been learning about one more and one less using numbers up to 5.
Yesterday, we explored one more using 5 frames and counters. The children represented a number and then added one more, noticing how the total increased.
Today, we focused on one less. The children counted dot squares, put them in order and then asked each other if they could find one less than ___?
Try this at home
• Count up to 5 objects and add one more
• Start with up to 5 objects, take one away and count how many are left
• Ask questions like “How many are there now?”
These quick activities help children build confidence with early number skills. :)
