Oracy Development and Debate

What is a conversation?
Today in Reception we focused on our oracy skills and explored the big question: What is a conversation?
We talked about what a conversation looks like and sounds like, learning that it can be between two people or in a small group. The children practised taking turns to speak, listening carefully to others and responding with their own ideas.
We discussed the different roles in a conversation and why listening is just as important as talking. The children then had lots of opportunities to practise having conversations with their friends and sharing their thoughts confidently.
We are so proud of how well the children listened, took turns and used their voices today. What brilliant communicators they are becoming.
